Winterthurer Weihnachtsmarkt

The Winterthurer Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) is a festive attraction that transforms the old town of Winterthur into a winter wonderland from November 26 to December 23, 2026. Each year the market offers an extensive program for the whole family. From eleven o'clock in the morning until the late hours of the evening, the market is open, and that on all seven days of the week. The atmosphere is underscored by the picturesque alleys and historic houses of the car-free old town, which makes the Christmas market one of the most beautiful in Switzerland.

Visitors can look forward to a daily changing supporting program that includes, among other things, face painting for children, the telling of fairy tales, and the opportunity to decorate gingerbread. For music enthusiasts, there are numerous performances that underscore the festive mood. Admission to these attractions is free, so there is something for everyone.

Particularly worth highlighting is the "Märliwald" (fairy-tale forest), a magical corner that delights children and adults alike. This lovingly designed area features animated fairy-tale figures that put a smile on visitors' faces. Access to the Märliwald is likewise free. Another attraction is the Päcklihuus, where guests can have their gifts wrapped free of charge, regardless of whether the items were purchased at the Christmas market or elsewhere.
