How we rank.
Every list on CityHero is sorted by the Hero Score — an open formula with four ingredients. No paid placements, no hidden deals: whoever is better and delivers better service ranks higher.
Rating
Rating and count combined: a top score only counts fully once enough reviews back it up. A 4.7 with 500 reviews ranks above a 5.0 with just 3 — earned trust over outliers.
Number of reviews
Reach also counts: how many people rated the business — logarithmically, so smaller excellent businesses still get a fair chance.
Request activity
Businesses that receive reservations and quote requests via CityHero climb the ranking. Requests older than 90 days only count half — recency wins.
Profile quality
Complete profiles rank better: opening hours, photos, description, price information and well-maintained data feed directly into the score.
The “City Hero” badge
The top three of every category and city carry the City Hero badge with a medal. It is awarded automatically and revoked automatically — earned through performance, not budget.
