Familiengarten Bildweiher

The Familiengarten Bildweiher on Sturzeneggstrasse in St. Gallen is a community garden where people cultivate their own plots and share the joy of gardening. Unlike a commercial nursery, the focus here is on communal, private gardening.

Allotment gardens of this kind usually offer separate garden plots where vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs can be grown. At the same time they are places of relaxation, exchange and nature-oriented leisure, contributing to the greening of the city and to social life within it.

With its location in St. Gallen, the Familiengarten Bildweiher appeals to people who want to garden themselves but have no garden of their own, as well as to families who wish to experience nature, cultivation and community. Facilities like these foster an awareness of seasonal, regional and home-grown produce.
