Familiengarten Schönenwegen

Familiengarten Schönenwegen is an allotment garden association in St. Gallen, reached via Mingerstrasse in the 9014/9000 area. Sites like this bring together numerous individual garden plots that are cultivated by hobby gardeners themselves.

In a Familiengarten – widely known as an allotment or Schrebergarten – members lease their own plot and grow vegetables, berries, flowers or herbs. Beyond the harvest, the emphasis is on gardening in the fresh air, a counterbalance to everyday life and the exchange within the community. The site is maintained and organised jointly.

It appeals to people in St. Gallen who have no garden at home but are looking for a patch of green to tend themselves – whether families, nature lovers or anyone who enjoys working with their hands in the soil. Familiengarten Schönenwegen offers a setting for exactly that within the city.
