Stadtgärtnerei

Stadtgärtnerei Zürich is a tradition-rich production operation that has established itself over the years as a center for plants and education. Open 365 days a year with free admission, it attracts around 80,000 visitors annually. Its motto “Connected Nature – Livable City” reflects the philosophy of combining urbanity with nature.

The main task of the Stadtgärtnerei is the production of flowers and perennials that are used in the city's parks and green spaces. In addition, the nursery regularly offers markets, exhibitions, and courses. The floristry department is responsible for creating decorations at official occasions. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the historic park, the dune-like sand garden, as well as various show houses, including the palm, tropical, and subtropical house.

The Stadtgärtnerei also offers private guided tours and seminar rooms for training sessions and workshops, making it an attractive event venue. The Stadtgärtnerei is part of the OK:GO initiative, which provides accessibility information for tourism offerings.

An important aspect of the Stadtgärtnerei is training: here, apprenticeship positions are offered for florists and gardeners in plant production. It is a place of knowledge where internships and training are provided for the next generation of professionals.

Visitors can access the public areas of the nursery without prior registration; however, bringing strollers into the show houses is not permitted. The Stadtgärtnerei is also prepared to organize events ranging from guided tours and workshops to various market days. The institution thus plays a central role in Zürich's urban environmental and educational policy.
